Powell-isms

Powell is learning his presidents. We bought one of those $1 placemats at Wal-Mart with all 44 presidents on it, and he is learning. He knows quite a few of them, and recently has started asking about a couple different presidents in a day. Yesterday, he learned James Polk (our 11th president) at breakfast. He'll repeat it throughout the meal and meals following. Well, at lunch, he repeats James Polk and what number he is, then he reaches over with his pb&j covered hand, and says, "mom, I'm gonna James 'Poke' you." Clever little 2 year old.

This one I didn't witness, but my brother-in-law told me. He was watching our children last night while Matt and I, along with his co-workers, went to a delicious steak house called Del Frisco's. Powell was trying to fit some Lego Duplos into a cup. He got 2 in and was trying and trying to fit a third, but there just wasn't enough room. Dave says to him, "I think there's too many in there." Powell retorts with, "No. There's three many in there." The funny thing is, he wasn't trying to be funny at all. He was just calling it as he saw it!

He is such a funny kid, and is always saying things to make us laugh. Where he gets it, I do not know.

To Those Who May Not Have Noticed....

Isabel has teeth. The two on the bottom to be exact. She received those 2 beauties about a week before her 6 month birthday. I never even knew she was teething! One morning while giving her her oatmeal, I saw them, and was shocked! Powell didn't get his first teeth until 8/9 months! Have I notice that they were there since then? Of course. Those little daggers have made their presence known, and I have not appreciated it. I think she has gotten the hint....finally. "No bite" is hopefully engrained into her brain, even though she would just look up at me and smile, not an evil smile, but a smile none-the-less, whenever I would yelp and say it to her in a very. stern. tone. Hopefully the next set of teeth will be this easy for her, and me. :)

Powell & Isabel

While my husband went on the annual hunting trip, the babes and I went to WY to visit the grandparents. We also got to see aunt Jerusha, uncle Wes and cousin Kennedy. :) We had a relaxing time, although, we didn't get out and about too much because of the wonderful swine flu outbreak. We did, however, get the kids' pictures done. My friend, Andie, who lives in WY, had her kids' pictures done when her youngest (who is only 1 1/2 weeks older than Isabel) was 2 months old. I absolutely loved them, so she was kind enough to let me in on who the photographer was. Since I was going to be up in October, my mom and I decided to get Powell and Isabel's pictures done. I gave Dani (the photographer) a call, and she was able to come up from Utah to Wyoming to take their pictures. Here is a little taste of the photoshoot.

6 Months

What a little chunk of love! Isabel is a serious, happy, fiesty little roly-poly. She still loves her big brother, and he can get the giggles out of her. She's still quite the puker, but happy! She still loves to eat, and eats just about anything you give her. Loves her cereal, veggies and fruit. When she wants out of her highchair, she gets quite the attitude and does the growly whine until you take her out. We're still working on sitting up. It gets a little difficult when she keeps spitting up all over the place, and she gets kind of tired as well, but we're almost there. We tried a sippy cup for the first time, and she's not too sure. She mostly just likes to pick it up and bang it on her tray. Loves her pacifier and her burpies, and snuggling before bedtime. She's our beautiful, blue-eyed little girl and we just love her!

Isabel's 6 month stats: 27" tall (90th percentile), 18 lbs 9 1/2 oz (92nd percentile), 18 1/2" head circumference (off the charts!).
