Ahhh...the sweetness

We love having a baby girl! Better yet, a little boy and a baby girl! Powell loves his baby sister so much. Always wants to give her kisses and talks very sweetly to her. When she's crying, he always goes up to her pack n' play and says, in a high pitched, soft voice, "it's OK baby girl". Such a good big brother. He loves to hold her too, with a little help from mommy or daddy of course.

Kisses.

Visitors

We loved having everyone who visited us in the hospital and at home. People were so kind with bringing meals and warm wishes. Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of everyone who came, but I did get pictures of most of our family who came at the hospital and at home. My mom got Isabel the cute little Naartjie outfit that she came home in.

She's here! (not for the faint of heart)

Little miss Isabel Sophie made her debut on April 16, 2009 at 3:24 pm. She weighed in at 8 lbs. 11.6 oz, 20.5" long and a head circumference of a whopping 15 1/2"!! Whew! On the upside, I only had to push for 17 minutes, and she was out! With Powell, I had to push for an hour and a half. Ugh. Everything went as planned; we went in on Wednesday evening, got a dose of cervidil (which definitely jump started my labor), a sleeping pill, a few hours later the epidural, and a few hours after that, a baby! Let me just say though, when they broke my water, the flood gates did open! I soaked up 2 or 3 of their large towels right away, and another 2-3 after that. You could hear the sloshing of the water when it was broken, the doctor and the nurse had to jump back a bit, with the exclamation of, "Whoa!" Sorry guys, she's a pee-er, what can I say?
Such a cute, fat little thing though. Already has some rolls, cheeks and a double chin! We love her to pieces. Powell does too. He didn't get jealous one bit when he came to see us in the hospital. He would just walk up to where she was and ask, "What's that baby doin'?" Already a protective brother too. When the nurses came in to test her blood sugars (which were a little low because she is a big baby), he just wanted, "mommy to hold the baby?" Such a sweet little man.

Fresh out of the oven.

Meeting baby sister for the first time. He likes her.

Cheeks!
Love crying pictures. I may sound heartless, but there's just something about them. They make me melt. She wasn't very happy about all the pictures I was snapping with the flash, and she finally just started wailing. It was adorable.

Last Belly Pictures!

Well, it's down wire! Tonight we go in to be induced! I am 38 weeks, measuring 41 weeks. I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios in my 36th week, which means, that I have an excess of amniotic fluid. Polyhydramnios can cause some birth trauma, so they want to take her now and not let me get even bigger, thus, upping the risk factor. I feel enormous though. It's really taking a toll on my body this time 'round...I even have stretch marks this time! Yikes! They're worth it though, right?

That's one massive baby bump. I would have to say, I would not want to know what it's like to be pregnant with sextuplets, or octuplets. That would suck.

And if you click on this picture, you can see the dreaded stretch marks! :) I ain't scared.

New Rooms and Baby Dolls

In getting prepared for baby girl to arrive, we, of course, had to transition Powell out of the crib and nursery into his own "big boy room". He had a lot of fun "helping" daddy sand and paint. He loves tools, and wasn't even scared of the nail gun compressor! G'ma Candice even got Powell his first "big boy" bedding set from PBK, Dr. Seuss.
The pictures of the room are what is finished thus far. Both of the dressers are refurbished from when I had them. They are actually over 30 years old, as they were my oldest brother, Jared's, then my older sister, Jordan's. We are in process of refurbishing Matt's old bed frame as well. Just a new coat of spray paint....or a few new coats.... Will post the finished product at a later date!

My paint covered husband. Had to include him in a picture since he put in soooo much work! Thank you honey!!
LOVE this bedding from PBK! Thank you mom!!

Powell also recieved a baby doll as a gift from Matt's boss. He wouldn't hold it at first, but after a few short days, took to feeding her the bottle at least. What a good big brother he will be!

Baby Shower

My wonderful mother-in-law, Kathy, and sister-in-law, Sarah, threw a baby shower for me and the little princess. It was a wonderful time with good (and I mean good) food and great friends and family. I did miss those that couldn't make it though. We definitely got spoiled and had a fun time. Our friend, LeeAnn has her own business making candies and made some delicious white chocolate covered mini pretzels and homemade peanut butter cups (white chocolate and dark chocolate). She made them special with pastel covered m&m's on the pretzels and pastel colored crystal sprinkles on the peanut butter cups. My sister-in-law, Christy made my favorite, cream cheese mints, as well! We had cheesecake bites for the "cake" instead of your traditional baby shower cake. We recieved many wonderful gifts to help get ready for this precious baby girl!!
